Spice-Craft, by Denny E. Marshall

First published in “Pablo Lennis” Nov. 2014.

Aliens land spacecraft on an open plain in Utah. The crew walks outside and stretches. The captain and pilot make small talk, while the rest work on the assigned chore.

“This place is so wide open I always enjoyed coming here.” The captain said.

The pilot looks around, takes it all in… this is her first trip to this location. Then after a pause she finally replies, “Yes it is and the best part there is not a human in sight.”

After the work is done, all return to the craft and leave. The cargo hold full of precious salt.

Denny E. Marshall has had art, poetry and fiction published, some recently. See more at www.dennymarshall.com
