Aftermath, by Philip Harris

Abby looked around the room and threw up.

Her parents were dead. Not just dead; they’d been torn apart, their limbs strewn around the room. Her brother, Jacob, had somehow escaped the carnage. Terrified, he was sitting on the floor, his back pressed into the corner of the room. Blood seeped from a gash in his cheek to mix with the tears streaming down his face.

Abby looked down at the taloned weapon her arm had become and let out a soft cry. She still loved her brother.

Jacob screamed as Abby walked towards him, her eyes filled with rage.
